2015 Ambush
Dates for the 2015 Ambush have been set for Sunday September 27 through Sunday October 4th. These dates were selected to try for some better weather than the last couple of years.
We are also moving to a new location just up the road at River Vista RV Resort in Dillard GA that has cabins and RV parking in the same location as well as a clubhouse, swimming pool, Cable TV and WiFi for internet connectivity. http://rvmountainvillage.com/
River Vista has blocked off a number of pull-through RV sites and cabins for us so that we can all be in the same area. I recommend you make your reservations early so we can all be located together. Mention the Ambush Rally when making reservations. Julie, Shaun or Patsy can help with your reservations.
This is centrally located near a lot of the places we often drive to and there is a wider selection of local restaurants and activities nearby. It will give us better access to the roads in NC and still have access to all the roads in GA that we have some to know and love!
As always, all makes and models of cars and motorcycles are welcome to join us at the Ambush!
We hope to see people that we have not seen for a few years and to meet new people as well.

Re: 2015 Ambush
I have made my reservations at the River View RV park. Be there Wed-Sun. My wife would be interested in coming if she can find someone to go golfing with while the cars are enjoying some spirited driving on the mountain roads. We would rent a car if anyone would be interested in joining her. There appear to be a bunch of golf courses in the area.
Trial run at new campground this weekend!
Barb and I are going to try out the new campground, River Vista, this weekend. We will be closely monitoring cell phone and Internet access as well as the rest of the facilities. We will also check to see who has made reservations.
Will report back after our visit.

We made reservations quite a few weeks ago ... hopefully, they show record of it when you are there this weekend!

Re: 2015 Ambush
Barb and I had a great weekend at River Vista this weekend. The campground and cabins is well maintained and they have set aside a pavilion for our use during the Ambush. They also have indoor and outdoor swimming pools and a fitness center.
We also located a local restaurant, The Cupboard Café, within 2 miles that has killer breakfasts!
Their WiFi service is pretty good. They block streaming video and music, but if you need to be connected to email or browsing the internet, it worked well for us this weekend.
AT&T and T-Mobile is marginal within the campground, but strong just outside it. We have a Wilson Cell Phone booster, and we were able to make calls on AT&T. Verizon is reportedly great in the campground, but we do not have a Verizon device to check with.
Power, Water and Sewer were all great!
So far they have the following booked for the Ambush:
Whittle
Anderson
Neuhaus
Williams
Newlin
Holley
Nagyar
They still have some spots and a cabin reserved for us so book soon! Is there anyone else that has a reservation there that should be associated with us so we can be grouped close together, if you would like to be?
Jim Holley,
I spoke to Julie at the front desk and they have a number of people at he resort that play golf that they would be happy to connect with your wife if she wants to come. She confirmed there are a number of great golf courses local to the resort.

Re: 2015 Ambush
The excitement is mounting! Less than a week to go! The weather has been wonderful the last few weeks, and we hope it continues into next week.
For anyone on the fence about coming, it is not too late to decide to join us. If you are local to the Dillard, GA/Highlands NC area, please try to come in for a day trip.
We have a couple more people who are going to join us as listed below.
I have made us a 7:00PM reservation for dinner on Thursday 1st October at The Farmhouse at Persimmon Creek. Fantastic farm fresh food in a farmhouse converted to a restaurant. http://www.thefarmhouseatpersimmoncreek.com/
Barb and I will be bring our turkey fryer and we will cook turkeys and possibly a duck or some chickens one evening. I am working on some dinner reservations or the other nights.
We had Gale and Lana visit us on the weekend in their fabulous LS-7 powered Stalker. Even more improvements for this year and much faster than a Hyundai Excel! (inside joke from a couple years ago)
Our car is pretty in Orange and running nicely too!
I just spoke to the River Vista, and we should receive 15% off regular pricing as our group rate. Make sure to confirm you are registered with the group at Check-In and that you receive your discount, as after that, it is too late. They have made a meeting room available for us near where we are all staying.
If anyone is interesting coming to the area a day or two early, Gale and Lana, Van and Sandy, and Barb and I are trying out a new campground on the Tallulah River about 20 mile south of River Vista. It is a beautiful setting and is operated by some friends of ours, Robbie and Torri. Campground is River Falls at Tallulah Gorge. Call Torri directly on 678-431-9156 if you are interested in a reservation and tell her you are friend of Barb and I. They have rental cabins as well as campers.
See details at http://www.riverfallsatthegorge.com/ and http://www.windyskycamperrentals.com/
Sunday is typically a settling in day with shorter rides around the area to accommodate people arriving at different times. Monday morning we will gather at River Vista RV Resort to leave around 9:30AM for a destination to be determined.
Destinations for each day are typically worked out based on group preferences, with the goal being to visit some old favorites as well as take in some new routes each year. Rides typically involve some type of food as well. It is best that you give up your diet for the week. It is worth it.
Please send me a text or email to let me know when you are going to arrive and we will do our best to accommodate meeting up with you as soon as you are ready to come for a ride.
Updated list:
Whittle (Paul and Barb)
Anderson (Phil and Patty)
Neuhaus (Ned and Dee Dee)
Williams (Van and Sandy)
Newlin (Gale and Lana)
Holley (Jim and Roger)
Nagyar (Dale and Sherron)
Muenzinger (Paul and Laurie)
Edwards (Loren and Kevin)
Dorsey (Jim and Cheryl)
Meyers (John and Denise)
Berube (Bob)

Let me know if I have missed you or you are going to come at the last minute!
