Step 4: Attach transmission to engine

Step 4: Attach the engine to the transmission.  This is best done with the engine on the floor and supported by the engine hoist. Use a friend to not strain your back or injure yourself.  Now "stick" the transmission.  The input shaft of the tranny will need to go into the clutch disc, and then into the pilot bearing.  It usually takes some wiggling around but the transmission should slide in almost all the way.  If the transmission is not sitting on the alignment dowels, it is not in the pilot bearing yet.  DO NOT use the bolts to pull the transmission onto the engine unless the bellhousing is on the pins.
