Hello from San Antonio
Hello Everyone,
I just joined this forum, but I've followed the evolution of these cars for some time. Next week, I visit the shop, bring money, and hopefully get the ball rolling on an XL. My Commanding Officer is making the flight reservations as I write this.
Most of my "sporting time" has been on superbikes. My 1975, 900 Z-1 Kawasaki went from quick street bike to 1132cc drag bike on AVGAS with wheelie bars and a 15" wrinkle wall normally used on a VW. It ran tens. Not terribly quick, but in '76, it was faster than I'd ever been. I progressed to my first 4 valve per cylinder, 1981 Suzuki GS1100EX, and then finally to a liquid cooled 2003 Kawasaki ZX-12R. They were all fun, but the ZX-12 was easily the fastest. With very long legs, a 12,500 redline, and 6 gears, it would do 81 in 1st. So, by 3rd gear I was well into triple digits, tucked, and paying attention. It finally pitched me off, and the C.O. said, "You're done with two wheels, find something else." Bless her heart, here I am!
I'm looking forward to this. I've had many cars also, (a few I wish I'd kept), but nearly every time I read someone talk about these cars after having sold theirs, they miss them. That's another reason for my interest.
Anyway, nice to meet you. "I'll be back". cheers,
Frank in Helotes, TX

Hey Frank,
Welcome to the forum, Sorry that there's not much activity on the forum lately, not sure why as there are plenty of happy owners out there
So how did the visit go? Did you get a chance to take a ride in Scott's AXR?
What did you end up deciding to go with?
Dan

Re: Hello from San Antonio
Hello,
I never made it to the shop. Southwest cancelled my flight for a shortage of de-icing fluid, (?), so I had to cancel the hotel, rental car etc.. After grinding my teeth for a bit, I decided to finish a project I'd already started.
Thank you for the welcome. I may come back to this idea.
Cheers, Frank

Re: Hello from San Antonio
Hey Frank,
I'm in the North Austin area (Cedar Park), but I'm down in San Antonio for autocrosses once or twice a month. Check out the Schedule for SASCA or Spokes car clubs. I think the next event in San Antonio is not until May 5th. Stop by and say hi!
