anyone blown out their muffler baffles? Quite annoying and embarrassing sitting at a light in traffic and the car sounds like a bunch of rocks being shaken in a tin can.

Where do I get a replacement? What's the typical life on these?

We used to go thru Borla mufflers on our Formula Mazda in about 4-5 races sometimes less. I'm hoping this Super Stalker is not a muffler hog as well.

TIA.

PS, I have EM'd Scott, but maybe you guys have a money saving secret. Wink .

Scott replied promptly. They are Brunton made; $120 each plus $50 for black ceramic coating.

Seems like a decent price as they are reasonably substantial parts. I've no experience with getting custom exhausts made but I wonder whether you could get something similar made up locally at similar cost. I'm sure Scott's margins are very slim on parts though.

So what exactly happened to yours Ted? Did the baffle itself fail or come loose inside or something?

For $210 coated and shipped across the country, that's pretty reasonable. It's a Brunton part, so while I see lots of other exhausts and mufflers, this one looks pretty damn nice and certainly not worth it to me to try to "improve" on.

It sounds like the baffles inside just came loose. They rattle at idle with little pressure but quiet down and sound normal with the motor under load, even at normal street cruising speeds. Scott implied he's a little surprised at a 2012 kit muffler having an issue. I didn't tell him what the mileage is but Ithe original builder owner did about 3K miles and I've done about 2500 so total mileage is under 6K. But a fair chunk of that has been on track at high RPM's . Maybe my overheating problem had something to do with it.
